This series references Frederic Church's studies for his epic painting The Icebergs. Even as Church embraced the concept of Manifest Destiny, he painted a landscape that was already vanishing under the surge of civilization. I repaint Church's iceberg studies as sites for iconic, middle-class American homes: Raised Ranch, Split Level, Colonial, etc. These floating, melting subdivisions raise the question of where our continuing lust for expansion will take us.
