As the town of Concord, MA celebrates the 70th Anniversary of the Thoreau Society Annual Gathering 2011. This year’s theme is “Henry David Thoreau’s Environmental Ethos: Then and Now” . A special event takes place at 5pm July 10th in the Concord Art Association’s Member Gallery. Distinguished critical theorist of American painting, Barbara Novak- a Barnard & Columbia Professor of Art History holds a public conversation with the artist, Nick MIller. Barbara Novak’s celebrated trilogy on American Art and culture, features a special chapter on Thoreau. The discussion is chaired by the renowned New York based, Irish artist, critic and author Brian O’Doherty (formerly known as Patrick Ireland).
